If you are a proud Apple Watch owner, you definitely know about the awesome feature that has been introduced with the Apple Watch Series 1 and later versions, and if you didn’t, it’s the Walkie-Talkie app. Of course, it comes with a few limitations. One of those is that you can only accept invites from people that actually have an Apple Watch. In this article, I am going to show you how to accept a Walkie-Talkie invite.

To accept a Walkie-Talkie invite from a friend, you need to allow invites every time they pop up by choosing “Always Allow” when a person sends you an invitation. If you missed a Walkie-Talkie invite, you can always find it in your Notification Center and accept it by clicking it. Additionally, Walkie-Talkie invites can always be seen and accepted from the Walkie-Talkie app.

If you want to be the guy that knows all the cool features of Apple, understanding how the Walkie-Talkie app works and how you can fix common issues is a great place to start. You will not only discover how to accept Walkie-Talkie invites but learn how to fix Walkie-Talkie invite not working. Furthermore, you will learn how to add friends to your Walkie-Talkie app and other important details.

How to Accept Walkie-Talkie Invite

There are three ways to accept Walkie-Talkie invitations on your Apple Watch. Accepting a Walkie-Talkie invite is not an enormous task. It only involves one tap here and there and the job is done. Let me walk you through each of the steps on how to accept a Walkie-Talkie invite.

Step 1:

When you receive a Walkie-Talkie invite from a friend, a notification will appear in your watch’s notification centre. Tap “Always Allow” and it will accept the current Walkie-Talkie invite and any other invite that follows. This is a recommended step so you do not have to always tap Walkie-Talkie invites to accept them. When you do this, anytime a friend sends you a Walkie-Talkie invite, it is accepted immediately.

Step 2:

You may miss the first time an invitation is sent to you. Fortunately, you can always access invites from your Apple Watch’s Notification Center. From your Notification Center, you can click on the Walkie-Talkie invite and follow the same instruction I provided in Step 1. Tapping the “Always Allow” button is important to not miss Walkie-Talkie invites in the future.

Step 3:

The third step on how to accept a Walkie-Talkie invite is to use the Walkie-Talkie app. From the Walkie-Talkie app on your Apple Watch, you can accept an invitation, add a friend, or remove one. The app makes it easy to change your settings and use every functionality on the app.

How to Use Walkie-Talkie on Apple Watch

Let’s assume you just joined the iOS club and heard about the cool Walkie-Talkie feature. You want to hop in as soon as you heard about it, but then you have to learn the ropes. Using the Apple Watch Walkie-Talkie feature is easy and you can become an expert in it in just minutes.

To use the Walkie-Talkie app on Apple Watch, you would require:

  1. An Apple Watch Series 1 or later versions with watchOS 5.3 or later versions
  2. Enabled FaceTime on your iPhone
  3. iPhone must be iOS 12.4 and be able to make and receive FaceTime audio calls
  4. Live in a country or region where Walkie-Talkie is supported

If you and your devices meet the four requirements above, you are ready to use Apple Watch Walkie-Talkie. What remains is to start using it. It is as easy as unlocking your Apple Watch, opening the Walkie-Talkie app on your Apple Watch, tapping a friend, and then touching and holding the talk button.

When you do this, you will see “connecting” on your Apple Watch screen. Wait for a few seconds for your Walkie-Talkie app to connect. Once it is connected, your friend can hear your voice and both of you can communicate.

Before you use the Apple Watch Walkie-Talkie app and communicate with a friend, you need to add a friend. I will show you how to add and remove friends in the following sections.

How to Add Friends to your Walkie-Talkie App

You have to add a friend to your Walkie-Talkie app before you can talk with them. To add a friend, follow the steps below:

  • Unlock your Apple Watch
  • Open the Walkie-Talkie app
  • In the app, tap “Add Friend+”
  • You will be required to choose a contact
  • After choosing a contact, an invitation is sent to them. When they accept, you can start sending Walkie-Talkie invites to them

When you add a friend, their contact card stays gray and appears under “Friends You Invited” until they accept your invitation. After your friend accepts your invitation, their contact card will turn yellow and you both can start talking instantly.

How to Remove a Friend from Walkie-Talkie App

To remove a friend from your Walkie-Talkie app, you will need to open the Walkie-Talkie app, swipe left on the friend, and then tap the delete button. Alternatively, you can open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone device, locate Walkie-Talkie, click on it and tap Edit. Next, tap the minus button on a friend and tap Remove.

Walkie-Talkie Invite Not Working

One of the common issues we get from iPhone users is the Walkie-Talkie invite not working problem. There are several reasons why you may be encountering the Walkie-Talkie invite not working problem and I will show you how to deal with it.

Reasons Why Walkie-Talkie Invite Not Working

You may be unable to send or receive Walkie-Talkie invites or your friend may be unable to accept Walkie-Talkie invites from you if the following happens:

  1. Both of you are not using a supported version of the Apple Watch Series or the watchOS. Supported versions include Apple Watch Series 1 or later versions and watchOS 5.3 or later versions.
  2. Either of you has not enabled FaceTime on your iPhone devices
  3. Either of you is using an iPhone iOS that is lower than the iOS 12.4
  4. Either of you is using an iPhone version that does not make or receive FaceTime audio calls
  5. You are both living in a region where Walkie-Talkie is not supported

Any of the aforementioned could be the reason why your friend may not be getting your Walkie-Talkie invite. Both of you could go for an upgrade of devices or enable the FaceTime app as the case may be. If you are living in a region where Walkie-Talkie is not supported, there is not much we can do.
